Student Mobility for Traineeship

Erasmus + Traineeship Mobility enables the student enrolled in a higher education institution to undertake an internship in a company located in one of the Erasmus + Program Countries.

Traineeship activity is that the student obtains practical work experience in the field of education. In this context, the student is expected to obtain professional training and / or working experience in the institution where the internship is made.  Erasmus+ Program CountriesDenmark, The Netherlands, Ireland, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Iceland, Italy, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Germany , Spain, Latvia, Northern Macedonia, Malta, Portugal, the Slovak Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Lithuania, Serbia, Slovenia, Serbia.

The grant amounts provided for the countries are included in the application announcements published by the  Erasmus Institution Coordinatorship.

Eligible Institutions / Organizations

  • An appropriate enterprise is an enterprise that engages in all kinds of economic activities,no matter their size, legal status and the economic sector in which they operate, and all kinds of private or public institutions / organizations.
  • A Higher Education Institiution with ECHE (if the internship is going to be done at a higher education institution, a bilateral agreement is not a must)
  • Any public institution or private institution / organization operating in the labor market or in the fields of education, training and youth. Institutions / organizations for the internship may be one of the following.
  • Small, medium or large private or public institutions or organizations (including social initiatives
  • A public institution at local, regional or national level
  • A social partner or other representative of the business life, including chambers of commerce, trades / professional associations and trade unions
  • Research institute
  • Foundation
  • School / institute / training center (including at any level, from pre-primary education to institution of high school and post-secondary education (including vocational training and adult education)
  • Nonprofit organization, association, NGO Institutions / organizations providing career guidance, professional advice and information services.

Minimum and Maximum Durations

Recruitment, hiring and students in waiting room for internship at startup company, talking and bonding on a floor. Interview, candidate and unemployed youth prepare for meeting with HR at agency.

In the case of student traineeship mobility, when the certificate of participation is observed to be active for less than 2 months in the participation certificate, the activity is considered invalid and no grant payment is made to the beneficiary.

The student who has been determined to perform less than 2 months in the certificate of participation must return the entire grant.

How to Apply: 

  1. The student is responsible for contacting a suitable employer, who will be willing to host the student as an intern in his / her organisation / enterprise. 
  2. The internship activity must be complementary to the study program of the student at the sending institution – SWU “Neofit Rilski”. 
  3. Students have two options for coordinating their internship activity: a) students can search for a relevant internship via the erasmus intern webpage. A link for the platform is available HERE. b) alternatively students can coordinate an internship activity through individual placement research. 
  4. Once communication is established with a specific employer, the student is responsible for coordinating the contents of the training activity with the future employer, as well as the beginning and end date of the traineeship. 
  5. Once the time frame of the potential mobility have been set and the contents of the training activity coordinated, the student must fill in an online application form for participation. The application form is available HERE
  6. In order to complete the online application form, the student must acquire a grade certificate (уверение за успех). The certificate must be uploaded on the platform, along with a passport photo of the applicant. Along with the grade certificate, the student must also fill in a “General Data Protection Regulation Form” – the form is available in the resource section of the page. The same form must also be uploaded on the platform. A copy of a Bulgarian ID card (valid throughout the duration of the traineeship activity) must also be uploaded to the platform. A CV is also REQUIRED for the completion of the application form. 
  7. Once the online application form has been completed, the student must fill in his / her Learning Agreement. The LA is an essential document for your traineeship which outlines the official contents of your traineeship activity. The LA is available in the resource section of this page. Please, note that Learning Agreement must be signed and stamped by your employer once approved by him/ her. 
  8. Along with the completion of the Learning Agreement, the trainee is responsible for forwarding a “Letter of Intent” form to his / her employer. With the signing of the “Letter of Intent” the employer gives formal consent to cooperate with SWU “Neofit Rilski ” for the purposes of the student’s traineeship activity.  
  9. Once the student acquires signatures on his / her Learning Agreement and Letter of Intent, the student must send to the Erasmus+ team at SWU: Stanislav Grozdanov (stanislav_grozdanov@swu.bg), Hristo Dimitrov (hristo_dimitrov@swu.bg), Radostina Nikolova, PhD, (erasmus.coordinator@swu.bg) 
  10. Once the student receives approval for the contents of his / her training activity, the student will be contacted by the Erasmus+ team at SWU. 
  11. The student must be physically present in the Erasmus+ office for the signing of the grant agreement. Student is required to bring a bank statement for transfer of his Erasmus+ grant. 

Reporting your Erasmus+ traineeship activity: 

  1. The traineeship activity concludes with a “Final Certificate” which is available for download in the resource section of this page.  
  2. The certificate must be completed by the intern and the employer of the receiving organization. 
  3. The certificate must be signed and stamped by the employer from the receiving organisation. 
  4. The Intern is required to fill in a weekly report form which MUST be signed and stamped by the employer. The weekly report form is available for download HERE. The form is be presented to the Erasmus+ office at SWU at the end of the training activity in original. 

IMPORTANT: In order to provide proof of stay, the student is OBLIGED TO present physical receipts from the city in which the the traineeship is being carried out. The Erasmus+ office at SWU “Neofit Rilski” requires a physical receipt from: 

  • the official start date of the traineeship activity; 
  • a receipt from every subsequent month; 
  • a final receipt from the official end date of the traineeship activity. 

After your mobility, please, upload your "Final Certificate" along with your "Final Weekly Report".

Please, note that uploading the file through the online system, does not exempt you from providing a physical copy of the “Final Certificate” and the “Weekly Report” to the Erasmus+ office. A physical copy of both documents, along with the receipts, is mandatory for the final report of your mobility.
