👩🔬 Pamela Aleksandrova and Lora Nikolovska from our Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences , majoring in Medicinal Chemistry, spent their summer working at a Medical Lab at the Republic of North Macedonia.
🌟💉 They have just finished their Erasmus+ summer internship in a medical lab, which was nothing short of amazing!
From day one, they stepped into the clinical lab environment, learning essential safety protocols and discovering how every lab instrument works. 🔬🧪
During their work, they became familiar with theories behind hematology and biochemistry, then got hands-on with the lab devices themselves — from hematology analyzers counting blood cell 🩸, to biochemistry analyzers measuring glucose, electrolytes, and kidney function markers 💻, plus centrifuges for separating blood components and preparing solutions like real lab pros. ⚗️
They performed complete blood counts—analyzing erythrocytes, leukocytes, thrombocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit and examined blood films under the microscope to assess cellular morphology 👀🔬.
They also evaluated biochemical blood parameters, carried out pregnancy tests via blood samples 🤰
Through Erasmus+, our students showed how learning abroad can tackle real-world challenges and contribute to a healthier society. 🌍✨
